#15 login: StartUp!

So, I've had this StartUp course during this autumn. It includes 3 courses: Future StartUp, Business StartUp and Idea StartUp. I've been in Business StartUp and Idea StartUp with my team. The main point of these courses was to develop your business ideas to further. It has been really interesting and great!

When the course started, I really didn't know what to wait for the course. It was held the first time. I was hoping to get good advice to develop our business idea further and make something concrete to help us in the future. But when the course went on and on... I realized, I know much of these advices already. I thought that the course was waste of time... but then we started to do things. There was pitching and making ideas. Even I didn't get what I really wanted from the course, I've learned a lot of other useful things. Like pitching: I've never pitched before even I know what it is. At this course we have to do like... 3 pitches and it has been really useful, because I'm not good at it. I think I'm horrible, but hey! You've to start somewhere!

There have been few guest speakers and they was really interesting. I'm really bad remembering anything, so I don't really remember anymore who they was and what they talked about. I just remember they were interesting. Only one I do remember was my other teacher Ilkka Kurkela from my Digital marketing course, but that's because I know him.

TomTom with our tower!
Mmm.. When this course started, we had really fun practice. It was "Marshmallow Challenge". It was quite fun! We made teams with 4 persons and we got 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard tape, one yard string and marshmallow. The point was to make a tower from those and it was supposed to be that high than is possible and it needs to hold the weight of the marshmallow. And there was 18 minutes time to do it with your team! It was really fun and nice practice. Our team almost won! But then our teachers did a tower little higher than ours... And after that we watched one Ted Talk from Tom Wujec about this same challenge and it was really interesting. I really recommend that you try this challenge with your friends.

I was supposed to write a learning diary, but I didn't know about it when this course started so... I'm supposed to tell you now what I've learned, but I really don't remember anything specific! The autumn has been long and I've had a lot on my mind! Really, only thing I truly can remember was that "Marshmallow Challenge". And I can't really analyze my learning. I just don't know how to do it. You know why? Because I'm not always know when I'm learning. Like right now... I've feeling I've not learned a lot during this course, but I know that some day I'll realize like "Oh, I know this thing! I learned it at StartUp course!" Yeah... but it has a lot to do with that I've studied business already 5 years and I've studied entrepreneurship earlier and I had a small company during my years at HBC. (Let's get back to that later...)

But yeah. I really don't know, what to tell you. I think I've learned a lot, but I don't know what. I think the only thing I've learned was pitching. But hey! At least it's something I can say!
